How to support your unhoused neighbors.

There are lots of ways to help your unhoused neighbors, no matter where you live. Bombas works with 3,500+ Giving Partners across the country—check out our Giving Partner Directory to see organizations helping the unhoused population in your area. Browse their websites and social media or reach out directly to see what kind of help they may need, like clothing donations, gently used toys or books, financial support, or volunteers.

If you want to get involved directly, a great way to help your homeless neighbors is by assembling and handing out care kits. To make the kits, fill a clear plastic sandwich or freezer bag with:

  • Travel-sized toiletries like a toothbrush and toothpaste, dental floss, hand sanitizer, antibiotic ointment, suntan lotion, and ibuprofen tablets.
  • Feminine hygiene products.
  • Pre-packaged snacks and bottled water.

Offer them to people who are experiencing homelessness, and keep a few with you in your car, backpack, or purse for anytime you see someone who may need it. If someone says no, don’t be discouraged. The dignity of choice is powerful. Here’s how to introduce yourself to your unhoused neighbors.
