40% of homeless youth identify as LGBTQ+.
Homelessness can affect anyone, but it affects certain groups of people more than others—and one of the most at-risk populations in America are young people who identify as LGBTQ+.
Out of all youth experiencing homelessness, as many as 40% 18 identify as LBGTQ+, and young queer people are 120% more likely 19 to experience homelessness vs. their peers. Many of these young people have been forced out of homes due to their sexual or gender identity.
